Dr. Alhaj Uddin Ahmed was born in Tangail district in 1962. Dr. Alhaj Uddin studied till graduation in Agriculture from Bangladesh Agricultural University. Then in 2009, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman received his PhD degree in horticulture from the Agricultural University. He started his career in BCS Agriculture Cadre through 7th BCS in 1987.

Dr. Alhaj Uddin Ahmed is the former Executive Director in Cotton development Board. Earlier he was working as the Director of Administration and Finance Wing of the Department of Agricultural Extension.

Dr. Alhaj Uddin Ahmed took higher training in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, USA and abroad. He has published various research papers in various journals on various topics related to agriculture. He is a member of Bangladesh Horticultural Society, Bangladesh Agriculturalist Society, Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh and BCS (Agriculture) Association.
